BHWC supports its fieldwork with a fully functional GIS app that allows team members to record species locations and breeding behaviour in real time while in the field. This ensures that our data outputs are highly accurate and up to date. The spatial data also allows further analysis on powerful desktop GIS platforms.

Our recordings follow the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) coding system for breeding status, as well as other relevant data standards. This consistent methodology allows us to contribute high-quality, standardised data to wider conservation and research efforts.
