Bird Surveys
We have been undertaking bird surveys for over two decades now with a specialism for woodland creation sites but also cover other projects such as open hill and coastline surveys. We utilise state of the art optical spotting scopes/binoculars, high quality camera equipment and thermal imaging binoculars to really aid our surveys.
BHWC also has a fully functioning app that records the location of each species and their breeding behaviour, live in the field. This makes our data outputs extremely accurate. We follow the BTOs coding for breeding status and other relevant recordings.
Bird reports
An example of a map and recording table has been shown below from a recent woodland creation bird survey in Perthshire. All species are recorded and their breeding behaviour recorded. The birds are also mapped using our in house mapping software allowing the creation of a accurate distribution map of all the species recorded. We stride ourselves in accurate and transparent recording and to date, we have never had a challenge or dispute over our bird reports.
