Landscape Scale Thermal Drone Surveys

Landscape Scale Thermal Drone Surveys

Over the years, BHWC has specialised in delivering large-scale drone surveys designed specifically for wildlife monitoring across vast and often challenging landscapes. We have already counted several Deer Management Groups across the UK with the largest area surveyed to date being over 600km2 (the largest UK survey to date).

With a highly experienced and well-coordinated team, we are able to cover extensive areas quickly, efficiently, and systematically - ensuring thorough coverage while avoiding double counting or data gaps.

Our methodical approach, combined with advanced drone technology, allows us to collect accurate, high-resolution data that supports conservation, land management, and ecological decision-making at scale.

Key Advantages:

High coverage and efficiency – ideal for transient deer species (especially Fallow and Red deer)

Non-invasive monitoring – reduces disturbance to wildlife

Time and cost-effective – compared to traditional survey methods

Accurate geo-referenced data – supports evidence-based decision-making

Large landscape-scale surveys have become particularly valuable for groups of landowners seeking to gather consistent and comprehensive wildlife data across their combined landholdings. This collaborative approach enables a better understanding of species distribution, habitat use, and management impacts at a broader ecological scale supporting more effective, joined-up conservation and land management strategies.
